Creating a Culture of Care: Your Impact Starts Here
Welcome to Our 2024 - 2025 Donation Campaign
In the heart of Cumberland County, a vision is unfolding. It’s a vision where every child has the opportunity to succeed in school, every family has the resources they need to achieve financial stability, and every individual has access to the healthcare and basic needs that ensure a healthy and fulfilling life. This vision is brought to life by the United Way of Cumberland County (UWCC), and it’s a vision you can be a part of.
Our Mission and Vision
At UWCC, our mission is clear: to improve lives across Cumberland County by strategically raising and investing resources that impact prioritized human service and health needs. We believe in creating a community where individuals and families not only survive but thrive, where people willingly share the responsibility of ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all.
The Power of Partnership
True and lasting change doesn’t happen in isolation. That’s why UWCC partners with local nonprofit agencies to tackle the root causes of our community’s most pressing issues. Through these partnerships, we fund programs that address education, financial stability, health, and basic critical needs.

Your Contribution at Work
Imagine a child receiving their first book, sparking a lifelong love of reading. Picture a family receiving the assistance they need to keep their home warm in the winter. Envision a young adult gaining the leadership skills necessary to guide our community into the future. These are not just dreams – they are realities made possible by your generosity.
Our Initiatives
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL):
In Cumberland County, the DPIL program sends one free book each month to children from birth to age five. This simple gift sets the foundation for educational success and a lifelong passion for learning. Since its inception, DPIL has mailed 546,495 books, nurturing young minds and building home libraries.
NC 211:
This free, confidential service operates 24/7, providing health and human services referrals in any language. Last year alone, NC 211 received 11,616 calls from Cumberland County residents, helping with housing, utilities, employment, food, healthcare, and more. Your support ensures this critical lifeline remains available to all who need it.
Leadership Development Program:
Our 10-week program empowers community members with the skills to become effective, responsible leaders. Emphasizing preparation for local boards and committees, this free training has graduated 460 individuals, with over 378 now serving in leadership roles. Your donation helps cultivate the next generation of community leaders.
